Chimney Sweep in Broadstairs
Sooty & Sweeps are a family-run business with over 40 years’ experience, offering chimney sweeping and chimney cleaning in Broadstairs. Whether you have an open fire in a seafront terrace or a wood burner in a family house, our HETAS approved sweeps can sweep it, inspect it and give you a certificate for your insurer.
We’ll give you a final quote before any work starts, and you’ll get a HETAS certificate afterwards that your home insurer will accept.
Chimneys in a Victorian seaside town
Broadstairs is largely Victorian, with terraces, villas and some older cottages near the harbour, and much of the town centre is a conservation area. Many of the chimneys were built for coal and some are narrow, so a camera inspection is a sensible first step if you are thinking of a wood burner. Sea wind is hard on pots and cowls, so we check those too. For any change to a visible stack, check with Thanet District Council first.
What a Broadstairs sweep includes
- Visual inspection of the chimney stack, chimney pot and cowl
- Visual inspection of any appliance and installation for safety and compliance (HETAS)
- Chimney sweeping (ensuring no blockages are present)
- Smoke evacuation test of chimney flue
- Visual inspection of CO alarm
- HETAS approved certificate of Chimney Sweeping (home insurance approved)
We use dust sheets and a vacuum, so your room is left clean.
More than sweeping
If the inspection shows a problem, we can help with the fix: chimney fault finding, integrity tests, camera inspections of the flue, cowls, caps and bird guards, nest removal, chimney stack repair, flue lining and wood-burning stove installation. See our chimney sweeping, flue liner and log burner installation pages for detail.
We also work in nearby Ramsgate and Margate, and across the Isle of Thanet. You can also see all our chimney sweeping areas in Kent, or contact us to book.
